Herbal Tea is Wonderful and Cleansing

Herbal tea made from fresh picked herbs is a wonderful treat. When you consume a herbal brew, you are in essence consuming a herbal infusion also known as a tisane. Most herbal infusions contain no caffeine and are highly regarded for their medicinal benefits. I love the smell of fresh herbs. In the summer when they are in season, they add an incredible flavour to simple meals. It's no wonder that they are extremely popular in our beverages as well. Fresh herbs may not be readily available to all of us, due to the season or the climate we live in. They are however, available as dried herbs and taste ever bit as good! Unlike other types of teas like black tea, green tea, oolong tea and white tea, herbal tea is not a true tea. It does not originate from the tea plant, Camellia Sinesis.

Herbal Teas or Tisanes have varying effects. They can have a mild, relaxing, calming or invigorating effect, depending on the character of the herb. The right herbal tea blend can also help to cleanse the system and clear the mind.
With the increasing demand for this popular brew today, there is a huge selection of different types of teas and herbal varieties are no exception. There is a cuppa for every mood and there is also organic herbal teas and detox herbal teas varieties.
You can also create your own blend using dried herbs. The standard dose for a cup is one teaspoon of dried herbs. So when you buy herbs from the store, you can combine some of the herbs to get both the health benefits and the pleasure of a certain favourite or unique flavour. Use them in equal parts and experiment with different types.
It might be helpful to do a little research on the types of herbs and their beneficial properties and possible side effects before experimenting.
Almost all herbs are good for you but some may not necessarily agree with you so it's always good to err on the side of caution. Try a small cup first to see how the blend agrees with you before increasing your intake.
If you are pregnant, consult with your doctor before taking any herbs. Also if you are on medications, always consult with your doctor, before adding herbs to your diet.
