Healthy Honey

One of my favorite foods is honey. You can put honey on pancakes,ham biscuits,sausage,potatoes, nearly any kind of meat or vegetable, and it goes great on ice cream. You can also sweeten your coffee or tea with honey and do away with fattening sugar. Real honey comes straight from the hive and not from your grocers shelf. The kind of honey you buy off the shelf has been pasteurized and that destroys the enzymes that make honey such a worthwhile food. Its best to buy honey from a local bee keeper or online if you want the real thing. Did you know that all honey is antibacterial? Any time you get a burn or a scrape just spread on a thin film of honey and forget the other store bought medications. Besides burns and scrapes, honey is good for soothing an upset stomach, it can cure an allergy, and it can overcome an ulcer. Honey has a lot of antioxidants and some varieties are full of phenols and flavonoids that are a more powerful cancer fighter than vitamin E.

Honey comes in many different flavors directly related to what kind of flower the honeybees pollinate. In my area alone we have clover,gall berry,wildflower,orange blossom,blueberry, and the sweetest of them all, Tupelo. Lots of people choose to build their own beehives and raise honeybees and therefore have a free supply of honey, not only do you get free honey, but you get free beeswax which is great for making candles.
